New flexibility in payments for your courses

Attend supports your club or group by providing flexible options for pricing and collecting money for your classes, and the examples below illustrate the range of options open to you:

Attend uses share links to allow your members to sign up to your courses quickly and easily. (For more information about how to create and distribute share links check out the blog.)  When you decide to share a course you can either set a ‘standard’ session price or if you wanted to promote your sessions you can offer certain clients a ‘special price’. Whatever the price, the charges for your sessions can be collected online when your clients sign up for courses or you can allow attendees to sign up for courses online but not make payment at that time. It’s up to you.

 

Attend uses Stripe to handle online payments, so if you want the convenience of having your clients sign up and pay for your courses in advance electronically, you need to connect to Stripe though the Attend dashboard. (For more information about connecting to Stripe, see our helpful blog.)  If however you want your course participants to pay cash at sessions or another way, then you don’t need to connect to Stripe. You can still benefit from all Attend’s other great features, regardless of whether you take online payments or not.

The different options for taking payment with Attend

1. Online course payment in advance

Connect to Stripe through Attend. Generate the share link from the course you’ve added. Copy it and paste it into your website, social media account or email to invite potential clients to join your class. When clients click on the link, they will be taken through the course sign-up process in their browser and will pay for the whole course in advance at the cost of the standard session price.

2. Online promotional course payment in advance

Connect to Stripe through Attend. Before you generate your share link, enter a value into the Special Price box beside the button. Clients who click on this link will still pay for the full course in advance, but at the discounted promotional rate. You could email this link to previous attendees to encourage them to take another course with you but use the full price link (1) on your website.

3. Take payment for each session when attendees arrive

Connect to Stripe though Attend. Before you generate your share link, toggle the Advance Payment button to off (grey). Generate your link. When you share this link, your clients will be able to sign up to your course but won’t have to pay for the course in advance, they can just pay you cash or by bank transfer as you decide. The mobile app will show you which clients need to pay for each session by displaying a blue £ symbol next to each person who hasn’t yet paid. (Although you are connected to Stripe there will be no fees to pay for this option).

4. Have a slightly higher drop-in session price

Connect to Stripe through Attend. Toggle the Advance Payment button to off. Enter a value into the Special Price box: this can be higher or lower than the standard session price, so if you want attendees to pay extra for the flexibility of drop-in sessions you can enter whatever special session price you choose. Click the create share link button. Clients who sign up with this link won’t have to pay in advance when they sign up to the course, and the mobile app will show you the special price they need to pay when they arrive for their session by showing a black £ symbol by their name.

5. Individual on-the-go invitations

Whilst out and about, if you meet someone who is interested in your class you can collect their name and mobile number and text a link to them using the Attend app on your phone. The text will use your SMS messaging service on your mobile and should be sent as part of your inclusive text messages (UK numbers) so there is no extra charge for this service.  This link can carry the standard price or any special price you care to offer.  On receiving the text your client can click on the link and sign up for your class using the browser on their phone. If you have connected to Stripe they will have to pay for the course in advance online.

6. Use Attend without taking any online course payments in advance

Attend is designed to reduce your admin and make managing your courses and payments easier, but at the same time we recognise that every penny counts when you’re just starting out, and for that reason you can choose not to connect to Stripe to take advance payment for your course online. You’ll still be able to set special prices for your sessions and share the special and standard price links with your clients, and the mobile app will still show you how much they have to pay for each session.  You won’t see the Advance Payment toggle when you generate your share links and you’ll have to let your clients know separately how you want them to pay for your courses.

However you choose to take payments for your courses and whether you use a standard session price for the course, a promotional price or no price at all, you can still benefit from all the features of Attend designed to make your admin easier and hassle free.  Check out the table below to see how Attend could help you:
